I was at a mentoring meeting last week and one thing stood out about the role as a mentor - listening. We were taught that when the mentee says something and wants advise - you should do three things. Ask them again what they said, repeat what they said, "are you saying..." and then ask them if there is anything else to add. While you are doing this - you have time to pray for God to speak through you.
It also gives you time to just listen - which is maybe all that is needed?
