Probably for the first time ever - organization was actually a reality. Thanks to Woot.com and a few strategy sessions with my husband - we had most of the shopping done by the first of December. Not only that - but pretty much wrapped things as they came in.
All the kids signed up for their course to cook and the food was purchased. So yes, it was a stress less christmas - with the family time together a priority.
We lazily opened gifts off/on from 9:00 am to noon with lots of smiles, laughs and appreciation for each other. Chas (Sr.) and I were absolutely humbled by how thoughtful the gifts were.
My sisters family joined us for our annual 6-7 course meal including Christmas Crackers. We had such a nice time with them, that the need to go to a movie on Christmas day was negated. It was fabulous to have the whole family around us for about 24 hours - thoroughly enjoying ourselves - not in any hurry to move on.
The winners of the Christmas Crackers? Chaz and Laura finally came to an agreement - as I had first and second place prizes - they worked out who wanted which prize and took their crowns off around 10:30 pm. John had lost early in the day, but put his back on and took a Christmas cracker to Amy (to their dinner in the evening) and in their competition - Amy won and she took her crown off at midnight.
I am thankful for the traditions that our family has - and have enjoyed together over the years. Will they continue - I know that eventually the kids will have their own families and take on their traditions. The most important tradition - is to remember the birth of Jesus. Taking their faith for themselves.
Very blessed....
